As part of Alserkal Avenue's Programming for Art Week 2016, Mohammed Kazem presents a site-specific installation My Neighbours, which consists of images from his 2006 photograph series of the same name. These photographs were taken over the course of several days looking outside from the artist's window in Al Quoz. A clothesline hangs at the bottom of each image, his neighbour's clothes hung out to dry, changing with every passing day. The only constant among the photos is a wide expanse of clear blue sky. In a city like Dubai, with very little public spaces, the sky holds out the promise of a shared space, a common that encompasses us all.
